Why I Paint

Where does the source of inspiration for painters come from and is it the manifestation of the artist’s own intuitive institution that has nothing to do with the situation of the times? How does the work of art, as a result of and many of the discourses surrounding it, react to people who live in contemporary times and can it bring positive changes ultimately to the world we, the “hopeless generation”,  live in? The exhibition ‘Why I Paint’ is the experiment to observe these perspectives.

‘왜 그리는가(Why I Paint)’ 전은 많은 화가들이 영감으로 삼는 것의 원천이란 과연 어디에서 오는가, 그것은 시대 상황과 전혀 관계없는 예술가 자신의 온전한 직관의 발현인가, 결과로서의 작품은, 혹은 그것을 둘러싼 많은 담론들은 동시대를 사는 많은 사람들에게 어떤 반응을 불러 일으키며 궁극적으로 우리가 사는 세계에, 희망 없는 세대들에게 어떤 긍정적 변화를 가져다 줄 수 있는가에 관한 실험이다.
